10 Ways to Improve Your Digestion

When it comes to looking and feeling our absolute best, healthy digestion is truly the foundation for True Wellness. What we put in our bodies directly impacts the way we think, feel and act. Anxiety, nervousness and stress greatly impact digestive conditions and health.  However, most of us don’t think much about digestion unless it isn’t working well!

Next to the common cold, digestive issues are the most common reason people seek professional help. It is now known that over 70% of our immune system dwells in the digestive tract. The function of digestion is to break down foods for the cells to use for energy, nourishment and growth. The absorption of nutrients into our system and the removal of toxic waste out of our system is critical for our long-term wellness.

Follow these tips to ensure your digestive health every day - and especially during festive holidays, to avoid the belly bloat!

1. Tulsi to the rescue

Enjoy your favorite Tulsi tea 2-3 times per day, especially around meal times, to help improve digestion and to soothe stress. Tulsi as a herb naturally supports digestion, and Tulsi combined with Ginger is additionally helpful. Tulsi and a squeeze of lemon juice in the morning is the best way to start the day and alkalinize your system.

2.  Tulsi Tummy

This is unique functional specific wellness formula of soothing herbs is for calming the stomach and supporting healthy digestion. Three sacred varieties of Tulsi: Vana, Krishna and Rama are blended with Ginger, Cinnamon, Licorice and Peppermint. Enjoy drinking Tulsi Tummy after a meal to improve your digestion.

3. Stress Management

Modern science has revealed countless ways that mood affects digestion. Experts now know stress is a major contributor to irritable bowel syndrome, heartburn and indigestion. There are many ways to manage stress: even a few minutes of mindful breathing can have profound effects on stress levels. Make stress management a priority in whatever form works best for you!

4. Regular Exercise

Regular exercise boosts the metabolism: Walk for at least 60 minutes a day, practice yoga or any form of movement you enjoy. Yoga on a daily basis has helped many people lose weight and there are specific postures that support healthy digestion, such as Agni Sara  a sequential contraction and release of the abdominal muscles.

5. Drink Plenty Of Filtered Water

Key to digestion is flow, and pure filtered water is the best thing you can do. Quantity varies according to climate and activity, and you can drink too much, but consciously drinking 3-4 tall glasses of pure filtered water is a great start. You’ll know you’re drinking enough water when your urine is clear and copious.

6. Eat Extra Enzymes

Tropical fruits such as pineapples and papaya contain enzymes like bromelain and papain, respectively, that help reduce the bloat by breaking down proteins and easing digestion. Enjoy a bowl of cut fruit or make a papaya, pineapple, and coconut water smoothie between meals (best not together with other foods). You can also supplement with Wheat Grass powder

7. Reduce Caffeine Intake

Too many soft drinks and too much caffeine interferes with digestion and increases the production of stress hormones that decrease the blood supply to your intestines and can slow digestion dramatically. If you really find plain water isn't interesting enough, alternate with cooled Tulsi Tea or water infused with fresh fruits.

8. Take Triphala Formula
